癌の罹患率・死亡率は近年、急速に増加している。2020年度、癌死亡数は世界で約1,000万人に達し、今後の増加も見込まれる1。肥満や2型糖尿病などの代謝異常と発癌リスクとの関連が報告され、高血糖や高インスリン血症が癌の進展に関与することも示唆されている2,3。これらを背景として、高Glycemic Index (GI)食の抑制、そして代謝制御を介した新たな治療アプローチに注目が集まっている4。
